1978 Yamaha DT 250 E. Milage unknown. Instruments & lights discarded by the original owner. No title.

I used it as a trail bike from the early 1980's till 2003. Barn kept from 2003 till 2025. Throttle cable / carb slide stuck. Piston stuck from neglect. Bike was running when I abandoned it. What would be a fair price to ask? Sorta like my second wife's ex told me... "Just take up payments buddy!" Yep, it's gonna cost a few dollars and a little wrenching to get it going again. My bad. Located in central Alabama near the Barbers Motorcycle Museum. World's largest collection of vintage motorcycles. Over 1000 motorcycles and 120 cars on display because Barbers also has the world's largest collection of Lotus cars. Also home of the Barbers Motorsports Racetrack. A 2.38 mile road course with 16 turns. Put Barbers on your bucket list. Oh, and bring 22 dollars to get in, but plan to stay all day. (That's only $2.75 an hour.)
I think Devin’s in the right ballpark. I paid $450 for this 175 which is the same year and in pretty much the same condition. It has no title and it doesn’t run. Good luck!
Welcome to the site. One small correction, that may help with the sale, so it can properly be listed for what it is. It is not a DT1, it is a 1978 Yamaha DT250E.
We have several manuals for that model located here: https://www.legends-yamaha-enduros.com/forum/1978-yamaha-dt250e/1978-yamaha-dt250e-page
Does the bike have a title? that will increase the value.
If someone is looking to restore it to its original condition, the missing parts will lower the value a little. In addition to the missing lights and gauges, I noticed it is missing the air box cover, and the front fender is not original.
Prices can vary by what part of the country. Someone may have had that bike as their very first bike and would be willing to pay more for it.
I would list it high as you can always drop the price. Just my opinion. I would say its around $500 if it doesn't have a title. With a title around $700-$800.
