DT175A Kick Start Idler Gear
Lately I have had the opportunity to be introduced to the 1974 Yamaha Enduro. Is there a design flaw with the kickstart idler? Engine S/N's starting with 443 I have three all with kick start problems. Bearing failure, snap ring failure and thrust washer failure. I'm in Southern Ontario Canada looking for parts. I see some parts available on E-bay.com but border crossing has become problematic. I'm looking for a $1.50 item that run $50.00 USD shipping. I guess my question is does any know of a Yamaha vintage parts supplier somewhere else other than USA that would have a 132-15653-00-12 Thrust Washer?

Hello Ron . . . You mentioned your model started with the prefix code 433, but I think you probably meant to type 443.
I've not heard of any particular kick starter problems with that model, but parts do wear out and I've seen that small needle bearing on the secondary/drive shaft go out before. You may just be an unlucky fellow. 😉
That washer should still be available to order through your local Yamaha dealer.
If not, perhaps you can search for a "hardened" washer of the same approximate size, at a nearby hardware store.
A "mild steel" washer would probably need to be hardened before use.
Part # 132-15653-00-12 has the following dimension's > 13.3 id x22 od x1.2 thickness
Part # 132-15653-00-14 is > 13.3mm x 22mm x 1.4mm thick
Hope this helps, and welcome to our site.
