1972 Yamaha DT2

engine parts needed in Canada

Hi all, I recently bought a 1972 DT2 that has low compression (90psi), so I pulled the top end and it looks like it ate sand.

It has a .50 over piston now, so the machinist will be letting me know what size it cleans up at.

Although the connecting rod has side play and no up/down movement, I might have the crank done due to the sand issue.

Questions:

  1. What piston mfgr's are good?

  2. Will newer DT 250 pistons work?

  3. any leads on a connecting rod kit? ProX for a newer bike with custom shims?

I plan on bringing the main bearings and any other worn bearings into a local bearing suppler as well.

Thanks in advance!

Jeff.

Thank you for the help.

My bike has a serial number within the above sequence.

I will use the above part numbers to search for Yamaha parts.

I should hear from the machinist on overbore size this week.
