(Not Mine)
This is an auction for a 1975 DT125 customized with liquid cooled YZ125-powered vintage pit bike.
This is a project bike that started with a stock 1975 DT 125. The motor has been replaced with a stock 2000 YZ125 out of a good-running dirtbike. The wheels are aluminum Warp 9 motard style wheels with Dunlop Battlax sport bike tires. Brakes are the disc brake systems from the YZ.
The ignition is stock and is independent of the other electrical components. The lights, turn signals, brake light, horn, etc run off a sealed battery that needs to be charged prior to riding(the stator on the motor does not charge the battery). This could be converted with the right kit (like from Baja Designs), but I never got around to converting it because it lasts quite a while before needing a charge. I took it for a day long ride…and the charge faded at the end of the day (bike still runs perfectly with a low/dead battery).
Forks have been rebuilt with stiffer springs and new seals. Rear shocks are period NOS RedWing units. ProTaper handlebars. FMF expansion chamber with rebuilt stock DT silencer.
Requires premixing gas/oil. I use Yamalube R two stroke oil. When I ride it, I carry a pre-measured little oil container in my pocket to add to the tank when I fill-up with gas.
Aluminum radiator had been custom made to mimic the original DT125 muffler with the chrome trim.. Tank and sidecover paint is original that has been touched-up and clear-coated.
It is street registered with a historical vehicle plate that never needs renewing in WA. Title is clean and current, in my name.
Bike runs great and will go over 50mph in 6th gear. Lots of shifting because it is has close-ratio gearing in the transmission. Clutch is stock with new linings. I modified the Speedometer housing to mount my i-phone with a speedo app for the speedometer. I-phone not included.
Back in 1975, the DT125 had 17horsepower….This bike has about 35 hp. It’s a quick head-turner of a “pit-bike”.
It weighs 198 pounds (see last photo).
