Hey guys,
I was wondering if someone wants to share a little how-to-guide on who to polish scratched and faded Aluminium parts like the engine/transmission cases or the wheelhubs. I saw some guys making those parts look like they just came out of the box, but since I'm new to that topic, I'm not sure how to achieve that (e.g. ideal sandpaper grit, polishing products etc.). Interested to hear what worked for y'all.
Thanks for the help!
I haven't found anything I'm entirely satisfied with and I have tried several things. I have a myriad of mops, polish and stuff for for the job but never seem to get the finish I like. Tell you what you shouldn't do. Neglect wearing PPE of some description. Including a mask .
Here's another option for you..... a plastic bristle brush from Northern Tool. I used it to clean up the lower aluminum parts. Not a high polished by any means, but its an easy way to clean things up and make it all look consistent.
Big subject, can't really cover that question in one post, I like to work the surface down to shinny aluminum with everything from sandpaper, steel wool, scotch Brite pads, polishing compound, etc. then use mother's aluminum polish to keep it maintained, I like the look of polished aluminum, that's the way I did it in the 70's and still do the same
