I have one of these icons and am having an electrical issue.
Intermittent, but complete power loss to all lights. Has to be a simple problem.
I figure it’s either a ground. There’s only two that are obvious. Cleaned and tightened. Didn’t help. Are there more?
Could be at the junction of the hot wire to the lights. Most likely.
Any thoughts?

Has anyone got a comp green DT3 out there? If you have, could you get in touch as if possible I'd like some pictures of the top,each side and front planes of your tank. I have lost some pics through cloud storage and of course,the ones I need of mine have gone.

So I gave a DT175H from 1981. The previous owner ripped out all the original wiring and components that went with that. I am trying to make it road legal again so adding back lights, horn, etc.
I am seeing in the wiring diagram there is a voltage regulator and I bought one off of eBay, but I am not quite sure of the location on the bike. Anyone know where it is suppose to go?

I am rebuilding my DT125 and I’m trying to remove the armature to split the cases. I have the tool on order at partzilla and Yamaha (90890-01111-00).
Both have ne eta. Does anyone have one I could borrow?


I got it off using a Slide Hammer. I contacted a friend who worked at a dealership in the city I have resided in for nearly 70 years. His dad owned the dealership and he wrenched in the back for a for decades. He said that they used a slide hammer. I fashioned an adapter to fit my live axle puller and it came off in a single light pull. It surprised me a bit because I was thinking it was welded with age.

It looks like I may need to adjust the shifting forks as on page 31 in the DT1 Service Manual. Would this need to be done after any rebuild?
Page 31 .... Hummmmm ... could depend on what version of service manual you are veiwing.
I will say, that if the service manual is followed from start to finish, that would eliminate "most" of any problems that could arise.
There is a shifter mechinism adjustment that must be done/adjusted correctly.
I must say, it's Kind of hard to help with something like this without being there in person. Pictures "might" help

I have this 1969 DT1 that was rebuilt and after the cases were put together it shifts up to 4th gear put then it's a solid block going to 5th. Can anyone help me with this problem? Thanks, Steve

Could be any number of things. I recently fixed a 68 DT1 engine with the exact same problem, and it turned out to be ... that whoever was in the engine before me had left out a particular shim on the secondary transmission shaft, that prevented it from going into fifth because the shift fork couldn't complete the shift (throw/movement) without it.
Another suspect area to check would be the shift cam detent mechanism.
Note: Often times the transmission shaft must be rotated a bit to complete a shift, because the cogs on the gears aren't nessesarily lined up.
Besides what Devin said, I would check out (or replace), the lighting coil down on the stator . . . it could be a loose or broken wire that breaks continuity when it warms up . . . thus the intermittent loss.
